MARIO CARREÑO MORALES (1913-1999)
Mario Carreño Morales was born in Havana. He studies arts at the Academy San Alejandro in Havana and then continues his studies in Madrid, Spain. In 1936, he works with Diego Rivera in Mexico as well as with the other painters and well-known Mexicans muralists such as José Clemente Orozco, Frida Kahlo and Rufino Tamayo. He arrives in Chile in 1948 and in 1956 he is appointed director of the department of art at the University of Chile. He participates in several exhibitions and in 1969, he nationalizes Chilean.
